Bye-Bye Tampa

Well, sorry to announce this...we're moving to Washington State!  So since I won't be living in Tampa anymore I won't really be able to write restaurant reviews.  I have enjoyed this, so I'll be starting a review website in Washington.  If you are interested in buying DiningReviewTampa.com, please contact me!

Let Me Apologize

I put up a button, then I disappear!  There hasn't been much action on here lately because we have not been out to eat lately.  We are with all of the other American's going through some financial losses right now.  Money is very tight...but I promise if we go out to dine anywhere new you'll be the first to know.

On another note, I saw some new Burger King commercials this week that were interesting.  People in 3rd world countries taste testing whoppers and big macs.  I can only imagine what fast-food hamburgers taste like to someone who normally eats boiled goat meat stew.  When I went to Africa for 4 weeks in college and ate lots of fish stew, boiled chicken, rice, and cassava, I came back to the US and ordered a quarter pounder at the McDonald's in the airport.  Nothing ever tasted so juicy, flavorful, and full of greasy-love than that burger!  That guy who gets to taste 2 American classics, realizes what flavors he is being denied in his homeland, will be dreaming of those burgers for a long time...is it really fair to tease them like that?

A Little Thanksgiving Help for Tampa

Next week is the holiday for food lovers.  A day to celebrate everything you love by stuffing your face with food around a table of friends and family.  A day to wear your old maternity pants, overalls, sweatpants, or any other ridiculous outfit that allows your stomach room to expand.  A day dedicated to the meal we wait all year to eat...Thanksgiving.

If you are involved in cooking the meal, whether it's the bird, a side dish, or a dessert, and you are looking for a new recipe try looking here:

There is a complete dinner menu, and it looks pretty tasty.

This year we are eating a Thanksgiving buffet at my parents neighborhood clubhouse.  I'm looking forward to taking this year off, and having a whole buffet spread to choose from.  If you feel like dining out instead of cooking here are some options:

                         King Charles Ballroom
                          Sea Porch Cafe

For even more options..."Go Out For Thanksgiving" at Tampabay.com.

Since we all plan on gaining a few pounds in a single meal, why not feel better about it by signing up to walk or run a 5 k with your family before the feast?

Not Much This Month

If you have been checking New This Month, I'm afraid there hasn't been anything really new.  We have been trying to get out, but we have been going to places that have already been reviewed.  I have added pictures to two reviews that didn't have any, so you can check those out.  I do have a review to write about a place in Clearwater, so I'll get to that as soon as I can!

Oh, and FYI, we ate outside at Ozona Blue a few nights ago and we were attacked by billions of mosquitoes!  My poor husband looks like he just got back from Survivor!  So wear bugspray if you dare eat outside at sunset...

WEDU Holiday Baking Crash Course

I just got an email about an upcoming fun event in the Tampa area.  Central Florida's PBS station, WEDU, is having a Holiday Baking Crash Course hosted by Jack Bishop on November 21st.  Tickets will be $45 and include tips for baking during the holiday season, which baking gear is recommended, an autographed cookbook, and you get to sample holiday cookies and taste-test dark chocolates.  Call 813-254-9338 ext 2241 or check out this website for tickets.

I have to admit that until recently I was a cable tv snob, but I just started watching PBS and have become hooked on several shows.  I'm going to look for Jack Bishop's cooing show now.  If you are looking for something to do with friends or for a different kind of date, then why not check this out?  It's on my birthday, and unfortunately I don't think we have a sitter for that day, but if I get one then I may just see you there!

Manager Making the Rounds

Last night we met my brother-in-law and sister-in-law for dinner at Guppy's.  The food and atmosphere were amazing (like I remembered).  During our meal two different managers stopped by to check on us.  Just a quick stop, smile, and "How is everything?"  I appreciate when managers take the time to walk around and check on customers.  Good job Guppy's!
